From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
Journalism is a business; a business can succeed or fail. Taxpayers are forced to fund far too many businesses. Historically journalism is funded by advertising. If advertisers choose to support a non-traditional form of journalism, it is their prerogative. If traditional journalism cannot operate with an acceptable profit margin, they may fail. If Government bails out journalism, the public can only expect biased and slanted journalism. We cannot expect honest journalism if the industry receives Government assistance. We (the public) could not expect the industry (journalism) to "Bite the hand that feeds it (the current administration)." I do not approve of Government supplying one red cent to bail out, or support journalism.
