From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
The currently proposed programs do not appear to be in the best interests of a free and independent press. Yes, there are changes brought about by the internet which primarily provide for the expression of free speech. Attempting to develop new government programs to prop up any failing institution is not in the best interests of this country. Allow our free market place to operate. Your proposals will merely bolster an industry in change and keep the necessary changes from taking place. That is not freedom of the press but another government attempt to determine how Americans should think. NO GOVERNMENT CONTROL OR TAXES ON INTERNET!!! We have all the training we need for journalism without government attempting to control thought through training. NO GOVT. TRAINING PROGRAMS!!! Hitler used that approach successfully. We do not need any government involvement or programs involved with our free press.
