From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
The 1st amendment states:Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. It say's nothing about infringing on one type of speech in favor of another. And for a Government entity to promote protectionism over the forces of a free market in light of the distrust and disgust over government interference, even takeovers of large sectors of or economy only shows how out of touch with the American people and our very founding principles these regulatory bureaucracy's have gotten. It is not your place to decide who survives in the marketplace,it is your function to keep the playing field level, not to tilt it in favor of a failing medium,no matter the tradition or history.
