From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
This is very frightening. There is nothing wrong with having conferences, symposiums, research, on the effects of journalism. But these meetings are disguised as to how the government, particularly The Barrack Obama administration, can manipulate free speech in America. This is absolutely the exact opposite of what our founding fathers established in our constitution and the freedom of the press. The last statement in the description of these public meetings says it all: "The workshop will address proposals to better-support and lower the costs of journalism." The government has no business of giving any kind of support that wouild undermine and limit free speech. This would destroy any integrity and open honesty in American journalism. In many ways, it is already happening with the bias of so much liberal media. The government has no right to explore funding of the press. Not only would such actions, be inherently biased, but also explicitly biased. It is very obvious the Obama administration, and his appointments to the Federal Trade Commission, are trying to manipulate the flow of information in this country. President Obama stated in a live press conference the American people need to spend less time watching television and surfing the internet, That is an astounding comment that reeks of disdain, corruption, and arrogance toward the freedom of speech our country has always had as a constitutional right. The Obama administration does not believe in personal freedoms. Particularly when it doesn't agree with their views and philosophies. There is no greater example of this belief, than what the administration and FTC are proposing in these meetings. They do not like conservative talk radio, or internet sources that disagree with theirs. They are seeking to control them. Our country was founded on liberty. We spilt American blood fighting the British empire for personal freedoms. Freedom and liberty are ingrained in our soul. It astounds me how many people have forgotten this. The blood and heritage of our American forefathers still is alive and well in this country. I would urge the Obama administration to wisely remember this. Their is coming a time where the American people will rise up and defend these principals of freedoms and liberties. I urge the Obama administration and the FTC to do all in their power to PROTECT freedom of speech. It will not be taken away!
