From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
As a private citizen, I am dismayed and in fact, greatly angered that the FTC is even contemplating efforts to control and censor free speech in America. The FTC is purposely on a course to violate our freedom of speech rights guaranteed in America's constitution. The government has no business and certainly no right to place any restraints or conditions upon how we may express freedom of speech. This is obviously a move by Leftist Radicals in the Obama Administration to censor and eventually silence "conservative" thought and in particular, "Conservative Talk Radio" and the internet. It is a violation of everything America's forefathers stood for. Government has a complete "conflict of interest" in trying to control speech in America. This is not China, North Korea or Russia. Furthermore ... the government has no business whatsoever trying to educate journalists or subsidizing media outlets. If the public is not interested in listening to them, they should be allowed to disappear due to their "out of touch" message that repels listenership. Get your hands of radio, get your hands off the internet, and get your hands off "freedom of speech". In disgust of your actions. Gerald J. Volomino, Jr.
