From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
To Whom It May Concern, Free speech does not mean government control of anything to do with journalism. The marketplace will determine whether a radio station, newspaper, web-site or any other "speech" entity survives. To have any government control over the content of speech (other than obscenity) is to take one step closer to fascism. I implore you, in the name of freedom, to stay out of our free speech. After all, it isn't free if you control it... now is it.... Also, for the government to "bail out" a newspaper, or any other free speech organization is only an attemp to control that organization. I will fight against government control of free speech with every ounce of my American Blood; because the next thing the government will try to do is to tell me what I can and can't say. Please think about what you are doing, and remember... this is a free country. Free means Free. Free does not mean government control. DON'T TREAD ON ME
