From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
The use of the internet should not be taxed or restricted by any means. These actions would be controlling free speech. The internet has change journalism by allowing anyone if easily find different view points. Major print media circulation is not shrinking because the internet exists but because the public has a low opinion of the print (and most news networks) media. This opinion is low because reasonable people can find distortions and omission of the facts and obvious taking sides by the media. The one journalism class I took in college emphasized the need to be imparitial and most of the print media is NOT. As the circulation shrinks, it is NOT the job of the government (at any level) to subsidize the existence of that media. That only goes to prove that journalism is paid for by those in power.
