From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
Unless journalists are to be the propaganda arm of the political party in power, they should compete in the marketplace of a free economy like everyone else. If the people prefer their news from the internet, perhaps that has more to do with what is being presented to them by the traditional media rather than the form in which it is being presented. In a free country, the people are free to choose what they prefer. Totalitarian governments control the news and leave the people no choice. Advertisers go to where the people are to get the best value for their advertising dollar. If the traditional media were presenting news and investigations that interested the people, they would have plenty of advertisers and revenue. Stay out of it.
