From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
Most of the news media of this country is oriented to the liberal view. This includes TV and newspapers. The outlet for the conservative view is limited to one TV station, a few radio stations, and to the internet. Just this fact makes this country sound like a tyranny like Iran, China, Venezuela, not the country for which our founders fought. To apply a burdensome regulation of forcing these few outlets to present all views will destroy these outlets, essentially restricting speech and that would be UNCONSTITUTIONAL. If a regulation needs to be applied, then it needs to be applied to all news media individually: TV, editorials, newspapers, radio, and internet, under the Equal Protection and Due process clauses of the Constituion. That would require that the liberal newsmedia have to present the conservative view point on every issue and nuance prsented. This would be horribly unwieldy and an intrusion on individual rights. Respect for the Constitution is dimishing in this country, but there are still many, including moderate liberals, who recognize its imortance and revere it.
