From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
Stop trying to take away my access to the journalism I want to hear and see! The FTC is grossly overstepping its authority by attempting to establish a journalism division of AmeriCorps, attempting to "bail-out" journalism and media. In addition to not having the authority to do either of these functions, ANY attempt to silence any media outlet is a violation of the Second Amendment which guarantees our freedom of speech. Journalism and Media are just businesses. Businesses that need to have a viable business plan to remain competitive. This plan does NOT include government funding, "Bail-Outs", and stifling competition. If Liberal Journalism can't make money in today's market but Conservative Journalism can, that's because that is what the American People want. And the role of the FTC is NOT to deny the American People access to, or apply taxes to reduce or eliminate, the journalism that the American Public wants to hear and see. Again, stop trying to take away my access to the journalism I want to hear and see! If you are going to deny Conservative Journalism, then you also need to deny Liberal Journalism. That means that ALL your current proposals to "save journalism" must be eliminated, forgotten, and refused with no new plans or policies to replace these. Leave journalism and the media alone! It is NOT your job to "save" any part of any business - including journalism and media!
