From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
The internet, through blogs, electronic bulletin boards, and other elctronic media, has allowed normal Americans a way in which they can affordably express their opinions. I beleive that the main stream media outlets (news print, radio, television) should not be propped up by the FTC or any government agency. Giving them (the MSM) entitlements and bailouts is a sure way to remove any incentive that they have to get creative and inventive in ways that they could draw people back to their type of media. One of the main reasons I see for the downfall of the MSM is their liberal bias on all issues. I get my news from many sources, but very few tell both sides of a particular issue. I adamently oppose bailing out the MSM. They need to use their own devices and to bring unbiased information to our newspaper boxes and televisions in order to draw readers and viewers.
