From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
As an Information Technolgy professor with over 25 years of experience, I am oppoesed to your 47 page proposasl to "Reinvent Journalism. The facts show that Oraganizations that are in trouble are those that continuously do not report the facts, they distort the truth and report bias stories to the public which has resulted in the gradual demise. I oppose your attempt to control the dissemination of information while imposing punitive taxes on ideological opponents to your liberal agenda. Your 47 page proposal to Reinvent Jounalism is an over reach of your authority and does not fall within the guidelines and authority for which the FTC was intended. This is a blatent over reach by the FTC authoriuty. This “Reinvention of Journalism” outlines a series of taxes that would stifle free speech and silence conservatives. I oppose A “Drudge Tax” on news aggregators like The Drudge Report who stand on the front lines of the struggle to expose the Leftist agenda. I oppose A “journalism division” of AmeriCorps -- forcing taxpayers to pay the Obama Administration to train up the next generation of liberal journalists! I oppose A direct Journalism Bailout fund to “help pay the salary of every journalist” -- WHERE EVERY AMERICAN TAX PAYER WILL be forced to fund the liberal media! I oppose A 5% tax on consumer electronics (like the iPad) I am opposed to Possible taxes on cell phones, television and radio that would all be part of a massive $35 billion “Citizenship Media Fund” I am demanding that the FTC cease and decist. This is not within your scope of authority. Professor, Eva Brown
