From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
As a private citizen I'm very much against any government control of the news media. Journalism and the news business will survive just the same way the rest of us are, by paying down their debts and finding new sources for business. The government has no business dealing with either. Our society is a capitalist society and often that results in heartbreaking situations for those who are caught in difficult times. The world goes on and actually we see great innovation when times are difficult. My suggestion to the government is STAY OUT OF THE WAY AND LET THE SYSTEM WORK. We are in serious trouble with our national debt and deficit spending. Now is not the time to add to that and it certainly is not the time to add new taxes to pay for a program that is absolutely not needed! And frankly, I don't believe that holding this "workshop" is necessary enough to spend money we don't have. I suggest you cancel and find a more productive way to spend the funds. Pat Dugan
