From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
If the intent of the FTC is to “bail out” journalists and the mainstream media by imposing more new taxes, as suggested by its plan for the “reinvention of journalism,” I would like to express strong opposition. I think that if bigger, more powerful and more expensive Government has more influence over what is or is not reported and HOW it is reported (currently with a decidedly liberal bias), it threatens our Constitutional right to freedom of speech. I am concerned that an Administration that supports the so-called Fairness Doctrine will use the workshop and the recent FTC plan to exert more federal control over a profession that has made the term “journalistic integrity” almost an oxymoron.
