From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
CENSORING OF ANY TYPE (EXCEPT FOR PORN MATERIAL)IS WRONG AND NOT THE AMERICAN WAY. In broadcasting, as in other free market endeavors, the private entity should survive on its own merits. Broadcasting, of all things, should not be supported or censored by our Federal Government. This is the way of totalitarian governments. Do you know how many university students today major in broadcasting, journalism, communications and the like and CANNOT NOW find jobs? I've, personally, had a student with a major in journalism who was unable for several years, though seeking employment everywhere, to find a job. He has had to develop another line of work. Why do we need the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT to finance, support, control, or in any way (except for pornography) have a hand in determining what the American public sees, hears, or can write about. The FREE PRESS is just that and this proposal "smells" to high heaven.
