From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
I am absolutely opposed to any government support or interference in our private journalism system. I do not want government sponsored, government trained journalist! I do not want the government to decide which forms of media will be taxed and which form they will subsidize. What a joke. Does the name Pravda come to mind? All industries must reinvent themselves from time to time. The same with traditional journalism. Let them adapt and survive or perish. It isn't the internet's or other new media's fault that traditional journalism is failing, it is traditional journalism's lack of objectivity and evident bias that is out of step with most Americans beliefs that is the cause of their impending demise. The government has NO role in supporting or controlling the free flow of information in this county. Once the government controls the media then they will next attempt to control American's free speech. Believe it or not the marketplace, not the government, should determine which form of news media shall flourish.
