The First Amendment was intended to protect UNPOPULAR speech from control by any parties in power. Popular speech obviously would need no such defense. The government in any of its forms has no business in promoting, or preventing, ANY opinions in the public forum, be it television, radio, print or internet, or any other medium that may develop in the future. Ideas and opinions shoud be examined and either flourish or fade away based only on merit, not on political preference of those in powe4r at the moment.
