From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
Your “Potential Policy Recommendations to Support the Reinvention of Journalism,” document reveals a series of taxes that would stifle free speech and silence conservatives. This “Fairness Doctrine” pose is an ominous threat to conservative speech that would empower the current administration to control the dissemination of information while imposing punitive taxes on ideological opponents. The paper listed five possible new taxes to pay for a “Citizenship Media Fund.” Those include a $4 billion tax on consumer electronics like your TV or iPod; a $5-6 billion advertising tax; and a tax on both ISP and cell phone bills. I oppose your effort to censor and tax speech and our free speech rights in general.
