From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
The FTC should let progress dictate the future of journalism. The Internet and news channnels are becoming the defacto choice of the majority of people for news. It is not the Government's obligation nor does the government have any authority to support or impede news discemenation. I have not read a news paper for several years and don't really miss it. Imposing any type tax on anything to support a specific function is discreminatory. Unfortunantly various occupations tend to become obsolete and the persons in thos occupations need to pursue other lines of work. In fact, I am an excellent microwave communications system engineer (no brag intended), and that line of work become obsolete, so I changed to Optical transmission engineering then Telecommunications sales. All without government assistance.
