From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
After reviewing the document entitled "Potential Policy Recommendations to Support the Reinvention of Journalism" I find that this is nothing more than an attempt to silence the so called alternate media. The last time I checked this is still a free country with freedom of speech. Placing a tax on news aggregators seems totally unfair and a blow to freedom of speech. The dictator Hugo Chavez would be proud. Bailing out failing news media is nothing more than a waste of taxpayer money. If the media cannot produce what people want then let them fall by the wayside. None of us need additional taxes added on to consumer electronics like iPads, cell phones, TV, radios, etc. The people of this country have had enough with taxes. I hope that common sense prevails over the next few years and our country remains the beacon of freedom that it has always been. This exercise seems to be a waste of time and money.
