From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
I am in opposition to any infringement on the fundamental Civil Right of Free Speech in article one of the Bill of Rights. The currently considered FTC Document called, I believe, "Reinvention of Journalism" by some folks, is a disaster. Taxing free speech is pretty stupid and will violate American's Civil Right to Free Speech. A Journalism Division that would pay fees to train journalists is really stupid. A journalism bailout fund to help pay salaries of journalists is really, really, stupid. A new tax on civilian electronics such as cell phones, I Phones, TV, radios, etc. rises to the height of stupidity. If this really, really stupid document should become the law of the land, we would be a country without a fundamental freedom--Free Speech. Don't even think about doing these stupid things to the American People. "The People" will throw out anyone trying to destroy the Constitutionally guaranteed rights we have in the Bill of Rights. Free speech is first in the list of the Bill of Rights for a reason. Without Free Speech, we have no freedom. "The People" will have to wrest control back from their oppressors. Yes, talk about this stuff if you like, but don't even think about trying to instigate this to the point of law or a bill in Congress. What are you people afraid of? Free speech? Why? Where are you coming from? What is your goal? This is America, for crying out loud! After America, there is no other place to go. What are you thinking? Too much freedom in America? You gotta be kidding.
