From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
I find it ludicrous that our government is wasting time and money trying to determine how businesses in a particular segment of our economy are going to survive as the interest in their products wane. Journalism is alive and growing in a new realm. These behemoths have made millionaires of their owners. Those owners need to adapt their businesses to changing realities just like any other entity or they need to go the way of the world. They will adapt or be replaced by new businesses that know how to adapt and provide the services that we the people are willing to pay for. Our government should not be involved in propping up failing businesses either by giving them money or by doing the research to determine they best route for them to follow. The companies should do this for themselves. The owners of the companies who have lived off of the profits for years should pay for this type of work to be done. Our tax dollars should not be used to do this. Journalism will survive because people are hungry for information. If the companies involved in journalism aren't providing what people are willing to pay for then those companies should find a new way or go away. Thank you for your time.
