From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
Journalism does not require reinvention, nor can the free flow of information need, support, or justify a tax on selected information providers. As former US Supreme Court Justice Hugo Black emphasized in numerous Supreme Court First Amdt. decisions, it means what it says: "Congress shall make no law . . . ." That includes federal puppet agencies acting by regulation. Absent obscenity, advocation of the overthrow of the government directly or indirectly, or solicitation of violence, the Constitution requires that information flow freely, whether the government and its bureaucrats agree with its content or not.
