From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
The Constitution says "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof, or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press." The far left, such as Robert McChesney, who defends Chavez and his takeover of the nation's media, are trying to seize complete control of the media. Left leaning groups such as Common Cause and La Raza want the FCC to shut down conservative stations. The concept of free market is apparently lost on an administration that believes it has the right to take over car companies, banks, health care, etc. No one is forced to listen to conservative radio or TV. Instead of trying to shut them down, maybe the left could try competition, which is part of being a free country. Perhaps they realize their beliefs are not those of the majority of Americans, which would explain why they are so anxious to take away freedom of the press.
