From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
Regarding the recent Federal Trade Commission (FTC) 47-page plan for the “Reinvention of Journalism,” it is very clear to this taxpayer that this plan outlines a series of taxes that would stifle free speech and silence conservatives. Isn't freedom of speech in the Bill or Rights? Isn't open debate and a multiple party system what has made America great? When viewed directly it is further clear that this FTC paper includes: The FTC paper includes… * A “Drudge Tax” on news aggregators like The Drudge Report who stand on the front lines of the struggle to expose the Leftist agenda. When is news compiliation wrong? * A “journalism division” of AmeriCorps -- forcing taxpayers to pay to train up the next generation of journalists! Huh? Isn't that what college is for? * A direct Journalism Bailout fund to “help pay the salary of every journalist” Please explain that to the millions unemplyed in America today!! * A 5% tax on consumer electronics (like the iPad) Say What? Souldn't congress do that (with taxpayer input)? * Possible taxes on cell phones, television and radio that would all be part of a massive $35 billion “Citizenship Media Fund”
