From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
The FCC needs to stay out of politics, business styles and stop attacks on free speech. Specifically, * A “Drudge Tax” on news aggregators like The Drudge Report who stand on the front lines of the struggle to expose the Leftist agenda. * A “journalism division” of AmeriCorps -- forcing taxpayers to pay the Obama Administration to train up the next generation of liberal journalists! * A direct Journalism Bailout fund to “help pay the salary of every journalist” including those I don't like or support. If the public doesn't support them they should die on the vine. * A 5% tax on consumer electronics (like the iPad) * Possible taxes on cell phones, television and radio that would all be part of a massive $35 billion “Citizenship Media Fund”, you may as well force me to give to a political campaign. Also, your moves to initiate a 'fairness doctrine' are an affront to free speech and reek of partisan politics. The capitalist system should decide which media survives with what content; the government should NEVER decide this! Your moves are outrageous. STOP!
