I stronly oppose your recent plan for the "Reinvention of Journalism". It is merely an effort to seize control of the free speech of all people and to try to "balance" conservative and liberal speech through the various forms of media. Who are you to try to define what is 'conservative' and what is 'liberal' and propose to tax news aggregators that exercise their FREE SPEECH RIGHTS to bring issues to the attention of those of us that are interested in reading what is NEWS! Whether conservative or liberal. And what's with A “journalism division” of AmeriCorps? Are Americans now going to be forced to pay for a new generation of liberal journalist that will conform to your definition of what journalism should be? We're taxed enough already. Let the free market define who wants to be a journalist without us, the American people, paying for more liberal journalists. We have enough already. The double standard in the media is already very apparent. And forget any kind of journalism bailout. If newspapers and magazines or any news organization can't cut it because people are fed up with their journalistic liberal bias then let them go out of business and find something else the American people are WILLING to consume. But don't do it on the backs of the American people. More people watch and listen to Fox News than all other news organization COMBINED because they're sick of the liberal slant and bias of those other news organizations. What's so hard to figure out about that? Basic economics: supply and demand. CNN and MSNBC are losing listeners and falling faster than Obama's popularity ratings. Conservative talk radio is strong and doing well because that's what people want to listen to. Liberal talk radio can't compete and have closed because no one wants to listed to their boring and maniacle rants. NO ONE IS WILLING TO LISTEN! And sponsors aren't willing to pay for something no one wants to listen to. The top 3 rated radio shows IN THE NATION are conservative because that's what people want to listen to! Are you next going to FORCE people to listen to liberal media even though it's NOT POPULAR. What aren't you understanding here? If you think IT'S NOT FAIR that liberal media doesn't get equal air time that's just too bad. If people don't want to listen to conservative media or are tired of it then let them use the OFF button. That's what OFF buttons were invented for. You also plan to add a 5% tax on consumer electronics? What are you, crazy? You want to further harm the economy more than it already has been by adding more taxes. Companies will only pass that tax on to the consumer. AND PEOPLE WILL STOP BUYING THOSE PRODUCTS! Hello? Don't you get it? The more taxes, the less people will buy and further harm the economy. It's simple economics. Let the free-market rule and stop trying to control what people should or should not listen to according to what one group thinks is appropriate or inappropriate. Why is it that 'progressives' (liberals) are always trying to control what's in the public domain? What are they afraid of? I don't see conservatives trying to control the media. Conservative media is merely providing what the people are interested in. They don't force anyone to listen. If you don't like something turn away or don't listen. It's that simple.
