From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
The "Fairness Doctrine" should be removed from the laws of our land. Journalism and journalists have a fair and level playing field now. They have the freedom to speak or write their feelings although they may not coincide with the truth. It is easy to see who is lying by watching the ratings. If a person does not like a conservative broadcast, just turn it off, and that holds true with a liberal broadcast. The FCC has all the power it is entitled to and should not be allowed to expand. I am against all funding, with tax money, to educate or further the journalist agenda. Let them earn the wages and bear the costs subject to their selection and reporting of the "news". The public will listen to the truth and thus increase the ratings of the provider. That draws in advertisement and that is what should set the earnings of the journalist, and that alone.
