From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
I am in favor of free press, investigative reporting. Spoon fed releases presented to the press where they then present it as news is not news and should not be publicized as news. If these spoon fed words as so called news persons and their stations want to publicize these words they should present it as PR statements from their source , not news. News requires objective fact, not PR or editorial comments presented as news. No news person should ever be paid by the government, then they work for the government and never present fact. All reporting is spoon fed and bios according to the PR line of the day. All news should be free, and only factual. News releases are not factual if released from a bios source. Fact is fact, when two sides of a story are available, as no fact is known then both sides should be presented when available so the thinking reader can judge truth from PR hype, fiction and lies. Government should not be involved in their bios situation in deciding anything about news, or its factual sources, much less paying reporters. Then we have state media, like Russia, China, N Korea, Ven., etc. We are suppose to be free. If we loose free news and free speech, we are on the road to no longer being free.
