From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
I have just read the article on the June 15th 2010 meeting of the FTC that is considering increased taxes and censoring speech from Conservative talk radio shows and other conservative media outlets. As you know, free speech is guaranteed by our constitution. Whether consertative or not, free speech is our right to speak our minds on issues that concern all voters and all people in the USA. Now, you are attempting to "tax" that right to free speech and worse yet to restrain our use of free speech. Our soldiers in other countries at this time and prior to this time have and now are protecting that right. I don't know how the members of the FTC get their jobs or positions but I intend to find out. If you, the FTC do instigate or implement any new taxes that restrain free speech or implement or restrain free speech in any manner, be assured that a "new" congress will as voted in by and for the people and will be sure to be pressured to "change" the FTC to a constitutionally based board with greatly reduced powers to effect this type of tax and restrain, or if necessary, to eleminate the FTC all together. The news organizations that exist today do not report the news, they attempt to "feed" the public only what they wish the public to hear. Perhaps it would be good if they did go "out of business" or have to reduce their giant holdings so as to only be able to "report" the news as it is made and not be able to alter it or only report what they wish. Perhaps fewer ABC'S, CBS'S and NBC'S is exactly what this country needs at this time!
