From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
I DO NOT support any form (however you spin it) of taxpayer support for news organizations. If the "mainstream" (read: curently government-controlled) media outlets made bad business decisions and did not recognize the importance of electronic media to the current citizens then those outlets have proven they are not viable in today's world. Those outlets that did rcognize and repond to changing technology and lifestyles will fill in (admirably) for the dinosaurs. That's the "future of journalism". A comment on the "Fairness" Doctrine: I know that it's difficult for liberals to accept the fact that their attempts to field alternative programming have failed miserably - due to the fact that the message is completely out of step with the majority of Americans' views - but that is no reason to attempt to silence the successful programming or force taxpayers to support their propaganda.
