From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
I am alarmed that the FTC is seeking ways to further tax private citizens for things that are just completely inappropriate. I am particularly opposed to anything that would: * fund a “journalism division” of AmeriCorps -- forcing taxpayers to pay the Obama Administration to train up the next generation of liberal journalists! * fund a Journalism Bailout to “help pay the salary of every journalist” * impose a 5% tax on consumer electronics (like the iPad) * impose possible taxes on cell phones, television and radio that would all be part of a massive $35 billion “Citizenship Media Fund” FTC needs to get out of our lives and start doing its job without digging into our pockets for more money. If the FTC wants to help this country generate revenues, then work to help repeal the health care law.
