From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
Our 1st amendment freedom of speech rights are central to our country and government. Our forefathers gave their very life blood to preserve these freedoms. Now, the Obama administration, and this agency, want to suppress those freedoms for any who oppose the sitting government by taxing those opponents virtually eliminating them. As a voting, tax paying, American citizen, I resent and OPPOSE these efforts to force me to silence my conservative views and to fund those for whom I disagree. Conservative opinion has just as much right to the public forum as does the liberal left. They should not be taxed to silence them. I should not be forced, via the tax method, to support, much less train, new media journalists in the mindset to which I disagree and oppose. And, what connection is there between cell phones and journalism? You want to impose another tax on cell phone business to help support the leftist media? It all boils down to a government takeover of the media, as if, for the most part, it didn't already report and give the liberal slant to "news". Our country called for the dissolution of the USSR in the 60s, 70s, and 80s; we called for the freedom of divided Germany in the 80s. Now, you want to retreat to the very policies those socialist, communistic governments supported. Please, DO NOT ALLOW THIS TO HAPPEN.
