From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
It seems inconceivable that any real, serious consideration is being given to the "Fairness Doctrine" and the "Drudge Tax". Not only is it the antithesis of fairness, but it ignores and defies the Constitution. How can there be honest debate and freedom of ideas if freedom of speech is squashed by liberal activists? The media's liberal bias has cost them the respect and confidence of a majority of Americans so now they strive to "level the playing field" by muzzling the fair, honest and conservative journalists and commentators of the news. What happened to letting the people decide who they will listen to? There is equal opportunity for those who disagree to speak out and express their views ... let the debate be continued in an open, honest and fair market place untouched by biased government regulations! The "Drudge Tax" does not pass the smell test and Americans know it! It is a travesty that such a proposal should ever see the light of day, but since it has, the only American response would be to vote it down.
