From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
This is to state that I vehemently oppose the ideas proposed in the document “Reinventing Journalism”, as do most of my friends and family. I do not want our government to subsidize journalists or the media and I do not want to have my taxes to be spent for this purpose in any way. Regardless of the motives of this document, I believe that having the government pay journalists is the opposite of free speech, and principled, unbiased journalism. I will protest to the utmost any tax levied to pay for these programs and I am particularly opposed to taxing internet news websites (i.e. the Drudge tax) since this seems to be politically motivated and again in opposition to free speech.
