From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
STOP trying to mess with OUR Constitution: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press.” As a retired USAF aviator, I simply canNOT believe what I'm seeing --- that the government of my own country is now promoting the very things we fought to eliminate, especially socialism and ultimately communism!!! How on earth can people of the United States of America even consider such actions? It makes my blood boil to hear and see what this administration is doing to this country. For the government to even hint at supporting "the media" -- whether print or audio/video -- crosses the line BIG TIME when it, the government, dictates program content in anyway! AND THEN to TAX US, the American people, in order to raise funds to implement government control of the media is unconscionable, as well as downright UNCONSTITUTIONAL!!! I am sickened to think that this administration is willing to go to such lengths of deception to control "the media." When "the government" underwrites journalism in any way, the outcome will NOT be true journalism, but rather one huge OPINION page! I'm VERY proud of my long American heritage -- back to the Mayflower... proud of family before me that moved West, homesteading in Oklahoma, later family that beat the odds during the depression, helping others to survive through the building of farm buildings! It was NOT the government paying my ancestors! It was their strong sense of pride and determination to succeed in spite of local and national disasters. I'm proud to have been able to serve my country as a farmer, as a Vo-Ag teacher, as a 4-H leader, as a Scoutmaster, and especially flying KC & EC-135s for the USAF. BUT I am NOT proud of those who now seek to destroy what millions before us have "fought" to build and preserve for generations to come! Enabling the government to dictate journalism's content WILL BE outright destructive to America as it was founded and as it has existed! I see “Potential Policy Recommendations to Support the Reinvention of Journalism,” and any subsequent actions related to its implementation as being ANTI-AMERICAN in the worst way!!! Any administration so devoted to the control of journalism is one to be feared, for if that administration is unable to effectively lead through its actions, then trying to control citizens by what they see and hear via the media is MOST SCARY! I am harshly reminded of my time behind the IRON CURTAIN and the FREEDOMS WE as AMERICANS stood for during those years! I could have NEVER imagined that such socialist agenda would become so prevalent in this country! “Potential Policy Recommendations to Support the Reinvention of Journalism" is an eerie reminder of those years -- a reminder of those leaders who deceived their people with both written and visual propaganda! It is a reminder of governmental bureaucracy that suppressed people through any number of control measures. "You" can call it what you want, but if it walks like socialism, talks like socialism and controls like socialism, THEN it IS socialism, AND I will fight every day of my life to prevent socialism from taking root in these UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!!! Our children's future is on the line! PLEASE STOP calling it "reinvention" of journalism -- what a crock!!! You're NOT "reinventing" it -- you're simply attempting to deceive those who have become hooked on government handouts!!!! -- those who CHOOSE NOT to think, NOR apparently have little desire to be productive citizens of this country! "You" certainly seem to be hoping that you can bury/hide this corruption by keeping it OUT OF the media... until you've slammed it through -- similar to the way Obama has tried to bulldoze the healthcare through! STOP this ANTI-AMERICAN “Potential Policy Recommendations to Support the Reinvention of Journalism” AND STOP IT NOW!!!
