From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
The press is free enterprise and needs to be treated as such. It is not the taxpayer's burden to carry their inability to compete. Like every other industry, you have to change and give the consumer what they want to survive. Today's media is way too liberal for a center right country and I shouldn't have to pay higher taxes to "bailout" another failing industry. And, in the process watch my first amendment rights be infringed upon. It's just not right to punish people for their opinions and allow another's just for political gain. Which is what this whole proposal is all about. The "drudge" tax must be omitted from any proposal. If it's media's time to fail then that's that. Many industries have come and gone and it's usually just made us a smarter and stronger nation.
