From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
IT WOULD BE AN INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS ACTION, ALLOWING THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO HAVE A DIRECT HAND IN SHAPING JOURNALISM AND ITS FUTURE. THIS DANGER WOULD NOT BE MITIGATED BY THE "COMMON GOOD" THAT IS PERCEIVED TO EXTEND FROM IT. THE CONFLICT OF INTEREST THIS WOULD CREATE COULD BE INCREDIBLY DETRIMENTAL TO OUR DEMOCRACY. FEAR NOT. JOURNALISM WILL SHAPE ITSELF AND SURVIVE WITHOUT GOVERNMENT MEDDLING. IT JUST MAY NOT BE IN THE FORM WE HAVE BEEN ACCUSTOM TO OVER THE PAST 200 YEARS OR THE WAY THE DEMIGODS WANT IT TO BE. PLAIN AND SIMPLE, THE GOVERNMENT NEEDS TO STAY OUT OR THE JOURNALISM BUSINESS. THANK YOU.
