From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
The "Fairness Doctrine" is a sham. It is designed specifically to stifle all speech, radio and TV that do not follow the mainstream (and liberal) media's views. Free speech is essential to a democracy and it is not obtained by forbidding one side of the argument. If Liberal thought is popular then liberal sites will prevail and if not the converse will be true. It is always true that those in power are more supported by the mainstream media so by its very nature, dissent will be likely in the opposing camp. Taxes, special media instruction and all similar actions on the part of the FCC should not take place. In Politics all views have access to media. Mainstream media dominates TV and at the moment Radio, Internet seem to be more conservative. That is democracy at work. Taxes, government choice of who will have access and forced contributions to support the regime are not appropriate. Do not give support to this false concept. This 'Fairness Doctrine' is anything but fair. Deny it. We don't need another Red Scare in America. That is what this promotes.
