From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
The Federal Trade Commission is holding workshops on the future of journalism? Huh? The founding fathers understood the importance of a free press. That's why they created the First Amendment. To think the federal government is now involving itself in the 'future of journalism' is just plain scary. What is the purpose of this government intrusion into a profession designed to keep government honest? I see a fundamental and profound conflict of interest in this endeavor and nothing will come of it that will serve the interest of the people - it will only serve the interest of government. I strongly suggest that the Federal Trade Commission cease all involvement in these workshops immediately.
