Basically what your proposal suggests is a bail out for journalists and newspapers, establishing a new set of "journalists" under the guise of Americorp, imposing new taxes, which means creating new divisions to administer and collect those taxes. I get my news from a variety of sources, newspapers, TV, radio, local periodicals, local organizations, my Church, school, University periodicals, etc. There are many forms of keeping informed. At this time of economic stress on all taxpayers, this is not the time to demand more in the form of bail outs or subsidies or taxes. What is not broken does not need to be fixed. You are pushing the limits on my 1st Amendement rights which I hold very dear. Thank you for allowing me to express my opinion. I truly hope you go back to the drawing board and let me keep my options and my hard earned money. I resent using my tax dollars for another selected class.
