From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
Funding Journalism through taxes makes the press "beholding" to the Government. Journalism must remain free of governmental "strings" if the press is going to be free of undue political or regulatory pressure. Freedom of the press is an absolute must, and that includes internet and conservative as well as liberal radio, tv, magazines and all other forms of "speech." "Reinvention of journalism" must not proceed. Taxes and subsidies to newspapers, Americorp (journalism) must not go forward. Let the free market come up with solutions, not the government!
