From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
How will Journalism survive the internet age? I don't know, but this I do know - the survival of journalism is not an issue which should be addressed by the Federal Government. Journalism has managed to adapt and adjust and survive throughout various "ages", and it will do so, or fall by the wayside, again. Every time a Governmental agency moves into an area, over which it has no real concern, we the voters and tax-paying citizens, lose another rung in the ladder of freedom and/or liberty. I, for one, see nothing but "control" inherent in whatever action is being proposed. I foresee these hearings as a forerunner to "bailouts" and to literal governmental "ownership"(censorship)of selected newspapers. I beg you - let the journalists do as they will and on their own - after all, haven't they reportedly been our conscience?
