The federal government should not be directly involved in the education of journalists and/or the control (through censorship/subsidy/taxes/etc.) of the transmission/publication of the news and other public discussions of issues. Presently radio and TV stations program to what the public wants (will listen to and paticipate in) and in turn what advertisers are willing to pay for. Let the free market determine these things, not "big brother" in Washington.
