From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
It is not in the best interest of the American people to have the government, any government, subsidize any part of our media. The media is supposed to be an independent protector of the truth, and a check on those in power. The American media today is failing, financially and in credibility, because it has forsaken this responsibility to the people. It has taken up the mantra of an agenda which is clearly un-American; authored by those who look at America as fundamentally “bad”, arrogant and dismissive, requiring more “controls” placed upon it in order for it to be “good”, a notion that can only be considered vulgar. They have accepted a master that is in the very power structure they are charged to keep honest, one who hates America and its founding values. If the media organizations want to be profitable in whatever form they can find, they need to realize that the puppet master they serve is a puny minority in the thought tank of America. In a free market system, they will be punished by a loss of customers. It is as it should be. The government should stay out of it.
