From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
It is inappropriate for the FTC to attempt to re-engineer the field of communication. FTC is a regulatory committee, and that is all. The issue about journalism not doing as well as electronic media is an evolution in communication. The internet is a more pragmatic tool and I receive far more varied and useful information than I due from newspapers. Legislating or enacting taxes to penalize people who have evolved and changed with the world is like penalizing people who switched to paper from slates. The FTC provides an important service. Do not get involved with pushing a specific political agenda. Remain neutral and unbiased.
