From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
Why is the FTC even considering this? Consumers are not being harmed in any way; we have never had more choice or more coverage of news in the history of the USA (or in the history of the planet for that matter). Why is it a pressing issue that one form of journalism (newspapers) seems to be disappearing - especially when others (cable news and the internet) are flourishing. Why are we not making proposals to bring back the news reel industry? They were harmed greatly by the advent of TV (to the point of extinction). They were just as deserving of protection as anybody else. The truth is that technology advances and things change, any attempt to stop or slow this will hurt the consumer and the economy. Finally, when did the initials of our country change from USA to USSR? The fact that any of this is even being considered is an outrage and must be stopped!
