From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
When I first heard of this proposal I was more than a little bit surprised. After the surprise wore off I realized it came from the government, the source of many bad ideas, this is just another. Or is it? Could it be that the government is trying to turn journalism into a servant of the state. Something like, say, Pravda. I am totally opposed to the government getting involved in journalism in any way, shape, or form. If enacted, the danger to our Republic from government designed propaganda will increase dramatically. As history has shown, every totalitarian form of government takes control of the press as quickly as possible so as to control the flow and content of information to the people. Could this be the reason for this proposal? John Claughton
