A Preliminary FTC Staff Report on "Protecting Consumer Privacy in an Era of Rapid Change: A Proposed Framework for Businesses and Policymakers"

I SUPPORT "a framework to balance the privacy interests of consumers with innovation that relies on consumer information to develop beneficial new products and services. The proposed report also suggests implementation of a "Do Not Track" mechanism". As a consumer, I want to control who has information about me and I'd like to know how it is used. I do not believe that the industry will regulate itself in a way that benefits the consumer. Similar to US Postal and telephone opt-out, I want the option to do so for my online activity.
