Proposed Consent Agreement In the Matter of DesignerWare, LLC, FTC File No. 1123151

I lease computers from rental stores (I will not mention their name) for my employees to use. I employee over 200 people around the country and I have them lease laptops from their local rental store. The reason I do this is because they have the ability to recover these laptops if they get stolen. They told me exactly what would be installed and I signed an agreement stating that I understood they could turn on the webcam and such if they had to in order to recover these laptops if they were stolen. Also every one of my employees acknowledges also as part of their employment contract. About a year ago, I had an employee quit and she said she returned the laptop and shipped it back to the store. Needless to say she did not. They required me to sign a stolen proper report which I did and sure enough, the webcam took her picture using the computer. We were able to recover the property, had her arrested, and protected my business. I do NOT see why now I have to go purchase something else from Norton when I had this software available for FREE as part of my rental contract. I am currently circulating a petition on the web and have collected over ten thousand names in protest of you revoking our rights to use software that we agree to in writing. I plan on bringing these names forward and submitting an injunction to stop your order. It is our right to use software as we see fit and as long as signed and acknowledge its use that is my right to do so.
